#470622, "Introduction/Non-Traditional Family"
|
Hello. I have been lurking on this board for several months to help prepare for the arrival of our family. Thank you for the information that has been shared.
My story is a somewhat unique road to parenthood in a truly modern family seeking 'happily ever after.' In a nutshell, I'm 1/2 of a same-sex couple from New Jersey who are expecting triplets, of a sort, through a surrogacy arrangement in India.
With the understanding of a presumed 50% success rate, my partner and I split and fertilized eggs from one egg donor and then transferred embryos into 2 surrogates hoping for a successful pregnancy. We planned to use our remaining frozen embryos for a sibling project sometime in the future.
To our joyous surprise, we have been blessed beyond belief with 2 ongoing healthy pregnancies....and one surrogate is carrying twins. We are calling our new-world triplets - twingletons! We are due in October and can't wait for every life-changing moment that is coming.
I have a zillion questions about a hundred topics but figured it would be best to introduce myself first.
Thanks again for the information and support structure that has been shared by this community!!!

Edward and Paul, congratulations! Before you know it, your trio will be here! My ob-gyn had a patient in a similar situation as yours--but with twins: two surrogates, one baby each, though the babies were a month apart in due dates and each surrogate lived in a different cities from the parents--talk about a juggling act!
Anyways, I wish you guys a long, healthy pregnancies and big, fat full term babies!

THANK YOU for the warm welcome.
It is a very nice feeling to receive good wishes from virtual strangers who have been/are going through any journey to parenthood, especially of multiples!
In surrogacy, it is important to stay connected to 'our' pregnancies, regardless of the number of time zones in between us and our growing babies. So, we have been reading as many books, blogs, and forums that we can find...taking classes at our local hospital ('Happiest Baby on the Block' next week!)...and writing on our blog as well as in private journals to attempt to prepare ourselves for the unpreparable!
Thanks again for all this forum graciously offers!
We look forward to learning LOTS from each of you.
