Survey Questions:
1. Were your children separated at the start of their education?
b. No

2. What age were your children at that time?
They were separated (2-1) for 6th, 7th and 8th grade

3. Did you experience any backlash of the decision by the educators?
b. No

4. Did you experience any backlash of the decision by your children?
b. No. They resisted the idea of separation at first, but each decided when they were ready and have had no problems.

5. Does your school district implement a mandatory separation policy?
b. No. The public schools prefer separation but it is not mandated. Our children went to a private (parochial) school and the principals and teachers supported our decisions- tho' some originally thought it might be problematic, all agreed it was no problem to have them together after having them in their classroom.

6. Did your children do well the first year that you made the decision to either separate them or keep them together?

7. Did your children experience separation anxiety?

All 4 of my children- the singleton and the triplets- are very close. They enjoy being together and even as teenagers look forward to their time together.
The girls liked being in the same classroom and certainly took advantage of the times they might forget a book to borrow from their sister, but never depended on each other to make friends, do school work or participate in extra curricular activities.
We decided to separate them in junior high to prepare them for high school when they will definitly not share all the same classes. They all felt ready to separate at different times so it worked well putting one by herself each year. It also allowed the 2 left together to form a clser bond.
My girls are not identical.

We separated the girls the second year they had school (4 yrs old) and they had absolutely no problem with it. We approached it with excitement and there were only a few moments on the first day - when it truly sunk in that they would be in separate rooms - that they seemed concerned, but it didn't last long. Our school automatically separates, but I'm sure they would allow them to room together if I pushed. Fortunately, I pushed that they be separated, not kept together, so it worked out for us. Our girls are excellent students but it would be too much together time if they had to be together, all day, every day. They need a break.
